It was never going to be anyone's favorite game, but Unbound: Worlds Apart is a charming, fun and somewhat challenging platformer. The worlds themselves are beautifully hand drawn and the excellent soundtrack adds to their particular feel. Most of his journey is not particularly hard, but there are difficulty spikes here and there, and the last world he visits is very challenging. Unbound: Worlds Apart is set in the peaceful land of Vaiya, one of many realms that inhabit a vast multiverse connected by magical portals. He encounters a lot of NPCs and a decent variety of enemies (including cool bosses). He can only do a few extra things (double jump, wall jump, double dash), but there are many types of portals to help him along the way. All our hero has to do in order to save the worlds is to jump around, sometimes with help of his portals. Then some demon invades and the village will never be cheerful again. Unbound: Worlds Apart is a side-scrolling puzzle-platformer with Metroidvania elements. Don’t let the cutesy, hand-drawn animation fool you, though this game will you put you through your paces with challenging but highly rewarding gameplay. In the beginning, we find him in a nice village that is in the middle of a celebratory event. While Soli has discovered these skills, he journeys across vast worlds, each one containing its own challenges and secrets to figure out how to defeat an evil. Unbound: Worlds Apart is a side-scrolling puzzle-platformer with Metroidvania elements.At first glance, it’s not a million miles away from classics such as Hollow Knight, both in content and art direction. ![]() He wasn't always in an oppressive environment. ![]() He also happens to be a gifted mage who can open portals to other worlds, this being the game's distinctive mechanic. Unbound: Worlds Apart is a decent example of the modern Metroidvania: great platforming with a strangely vague story and an addicting gimmick. A super exciting concept is perfectly executed by Alien Pixel Studios, and takes the form of a captivating, melancholic adventure for all. It remains unique whilst encouraging what people love about classic puzzle platformers. The kid is basically Red Riding Hood, with a candle twist. Unbound: Worlds Apart is a fantastic addition to the metroidvania timeline. The highly popular "little kid in an oppressive environment" trope has given Alien Pixel Studios the perfect excuse to create another platformer where said kid suffers extreme ordeals in order to save, this time around, the titular worlds.
